What is a life coach?
A life coach is someone who aspires to aid and empower others to set and accomplish personal and professional goals - including excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled in their home life, world, and
achieving desired ambitions.
To further clarify, in the capacity in which sports coaching enables athletes to hone themselves into the fastest, strongest, most tactical competitors in their disciplines, life coaching aids people, from all professional and personal backgrounds, improve their strengths and build upon their weaknesses to make the most of their lives.
What happens during a life coaching session?
Coaching sessions are designed for a specific duration. Generally, sessions are scheduled for 45 to 60 minutes and are conducted over the phone, face to face, over email, via Skype and occasionally through instant messaging.
During the session, your life coach will ask you about what you want to get out of life, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself ending up. Although a life coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don't feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings privately.
How many life coaching sessions will I need?
Individuals can have as many sessions as he/she may require. As Coaches can conduct sessions over the phone or via the Internet, the sessions can easily fit around your schedule. Some may hire a life coach once every few months, others may have a session once a week. It is entirely up to you to decide.
Is life coaching expensive?
The cost of life coaching varies greatly from coach to coach. Coaches may offer a discount when you book sessions in bulk and sessions last from between 45 minutes and an hour.
What can a life coach help me with?
Coaches utilize effective techniques to help clients in all aspects of life. If you are struggling with whether to stick to a diet, learning a new language, moving out of your comfort zone, standing up for yourself at home or work, keeping a stable love life, or achieving those things you always wanted to do, then consulting a coach can most definitely help you.

How can therapy and talking with a Therapist help me with my problems?
When you're talking to a staff member who has professional training and has helped others with problems similar to yours, the trained individual is able to see the patterns in your life that have led to your unhappiness. In therapy, the goal is to help you recognize those patterns - and you may try to change them. There may be times, however, when you may benefit from a combination of "talk" therapy and medication, in which you would then need to be seen by a Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, or other individual who is qualified to prescribe medication.
If I meet with a private practitioner, what kind of treatment will I get?
There are many kinds of treatment. A professional in the office will work with you in determining the best form of treatment to meet your needs. Depending on the nature of the illness being treated, psychotherapy and/or treatment with medication may be recommended. If medication is
recommended, the practitioner will refer you to a professional who can prescribe medications. Sometimes, joining a group of people who have similar problems is best; at other times, talking individually to a therapist is the answer.
Since I work during the day, it would be hard to schedule an appointment during regular working hours. Are appointments available in the evenings or on weekends?
There are some private practitioners who offer evening or weekend appointments. Just contact the office for an appointment, which may be set up for a time that is convenient for both you and the office.
